Job Summary:

As a steel fitter, you will be responsible for using an acetylene torch to cut and trim materials, laying out and squaring large steel plates, marking reference lines, and accurately positioning angle/I-beam structures to weld. This opening is for first shift, 6am-2:30pm.

What you’ll do:

• Examine blueprints and lists of parts to obtain job specifications.
• Lay out steel plate/make sure to square and prepare for parts.
• Cut and organize steel structures to print specifications.
• Build and position jigs designed to assist in the assembly of new parts.
• Layout and build plates, bulkheads, and frames.
• Align parts in relation to each other by using jacks, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls.
• Use an overhead crane to move parts once they are assembled.
• Mark and install hatches, brackets, and clips as needed.

What you'll need:

• Knowledge of shop math and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate overhead cranes, torches, welding machines, and shop tools.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to follow company policies and procedures as well as instructions given by management. This includes proper usage of PPE at all times.
